Welcome to
Eastport4th.com

Greg Shorey and his wife Norma have been coming to Eastport for our 4th of July Celebration for many years.

They own and operate Yogi's Concessions and are a favorite for those who enjoy doughboys or BBQ pulled pork sandwiches!

Greg loves to come here each year and was inspired to write this poem/song.

Perhaps we can get him to sing it for us this year!

Thank you, Greg!

Downeast Independence - A Poem/Song by Greg Shorey

This little town in Downeast Maine
Is full of life on Homecoming Day
The Parade comes in, The people too
The music’s full in the Festival
On this day in this little town
their spirit clearly all around
The ships dragged in, to the dock that day
The mood is set and the Sailors staged
The tide is low, The seas are high
The fog rolls in before their eyes
On this day in this little town,
their spirit clearly all around
The lights are up, The flags are too
The sky is bright, And the people woo
On that night it’s a sight to see
The crowd, The sailors, And the sea
On that night in this little town
their spirit clearly all around
Well, the weekend's done again this year
Just thoughts of independence and festival cheer
The vendors pack their wares again
And down the road to play again
The crowd is gone, The sailors too
Life goes on like it used to
And on this day in this little town
their spirit clearly all around
So in this town in Downeast Maine, their love shines through
their coastal haze.
